Journal Prompts for January

Unpopular opinion: New Years Resolutions suck

New Year’s resolutions happen so quickly and at the height of warm, fuzzy feelings with family and friends. The newness of the year turning over sparks the thought for change and betterment leading us to declare big habits we’ll make or break.

I’m all for bettering yourself, especially in ways that are well thought out, with a plan to ensure they stick, OR full effort was given. I just don’t agree with how hasty New Year’s resolutions are developed.

I have a list of journal prompts here compiled from many leaders I follow that I believe could assist in helping you find and create change in your life. My suggestion is to take a few weeks to work through all these before you commit to your resolution.

  1. “What worked this year, and what is worth doubling down on in 2024?”

From 3-2-1 email by James Clear

  2. What New Year’s resolutions can you set that will nourish you? Help you grow and achieve your goals?

  3. A common nutrition hack is to add in more GOOD, rather than taking away the bad. What good can you add into your daily routine in 2024?

  4. What are you leaving behind as you enter this new year?

  5. What are you looking forward to in 2024?

  6. Thank the version of you that carried you through this past year. give them gratitude before you tell them to do better in 2024.
